About LoveyLovey arrived in England, along with Reuben, in December 1970, and was just 7 months old. She coped perfectly with quarantine, and emerged from those kennels 6 months later, 33 pounds overweight. She waddled out, what was I going to do with her, well a diet of cabbage and carrots worked, and then her show carreer started, she just won. and in no time at all had gained 11 C.C's. What a beautiful girl, in her heyday, she was stunning.
However living with Lovey, was an education, you had to be on your toes, She was the most accomplished thief, and she would eat until she would need to go to the vets, to get a tummy relaxant.
One day, however, this thieving did catch up with her. I came home to find her really poorly,but not like she usually was when she had been on one of her binges. So I packed her into the car and rushed her to the vets, after a short while of examining her the vet said "She's as drunk as a skunk", or words to that effect. And she was, she had eaten half a bag of raw potatoes, and I think it had turned into pochine.
Life was always like this with Lovey, I must have been the only person to have their dustbins bungied to the fence so that she could not tip them over. She could open every door, cupboard, freezer, and fridge, she could jump a 7 foot wall from sitting, and go on away days in search of the love of her life........FOOD.
Judy and Peter, Thankyou for allowing us to be owned by this most wonderful girl, she was so much fun to live with, and must have made us laugh every day of her life. God Bless , Lovebug.
